Diego Schissi - Pianist/Composer/ Arranger

Born in Buenos Aires in 1969, he studied at the National Conservatory "López Buchardo" and at the University of Miami, and completed his piano studies with Susana Agrest, Ana Cigars and Ana Stampalia; he also studied harmony and counterpoint with Daniel Montes, Manolo Juárez and Oscar Edelstein. He has been devoted to teaching since 1996. Between 1989 and 1996, he lived and studied in the USA, where he had the chance to play alongside artists such as Tito Puente, Néstor Torres and the Boston Pops, among others.

In the year 2000 he is selected to be part of the first members of the Orquesta Escuela de Tango "Emilio Barcarce", with which he travelled to Paris to perform at the Théâtre National de Chaillot. That very same year he recorded his CD De contrapunto (EPSA). Among his works, we should highlight his first trio (tango), with the Quinteto Urbano, with whom he released the CD Jazz Contemporáneo Argentino II (Acqua) and En subida (Fresh Sound), both of which received the Platinum Konex award in the category Jazz Group in 2005. Schissi is the author of the soundtrack of the feature film Chúmbale and of plays such as El collar de la Paloma, Cremona and El diario de Anna Frank, all directed by Helena Tritek.

Together with Lidia Borda and the orchestra El Arranque, he recorded the CD Tal vez será su voz. In 2008, he released his first solo album, Tren (EPSA) with a double quartet; a year later, he started a new quintet composed by William Rubino on violin, James Segret on bandoneón, Ismael Grossman on guitar and John Paul Navarro on bass. He founded and participates as a member of the association Tango Contempo.
