Katarzyna Wieczorek

Katarzyna Wieczorek was born in Jelenia Gora, Poland, to a musical family.

Subsequently, she commenced her music education at the School for Music and Drama in Hannover with Prof. Martin Dörrie and with Prof.Matti Raekallio (Julliard School New York, Helsinki Conservatory), where she graduated with honours.

Since the age of thirteen she has won numerous Competitions both in her home country and in Greece, Italy, Germany and the Czech Republic. She was the recipient of the Rotary Club International Scholarship, Edelhof Stiftung, Yehudi Menuhin’s “Live Music Now” concert scholarship program, Eva and Marc Stern Foundation and the Mannes College New York.

She is the official piano accompanist for international Competitions, such as the ARD Competition Munich, the Aeolus Competition Düsseldorf, the Deutsche Musik Wettbewerb Berlin and the International Wieniawski Violin Competition. She has also been employed as an accompanist at the School for Music and Drama in Hannover, at the Folkwang Hochschule Essen (2009) and since 2010 at the Musikhochschule Detmold.

Wieczorek accompanied master classes to distinguished teachers, including Prof. Wolfgang Boettcher and Prof. Ana Chumachenko, amongst others. Apart from that, she has worked with renowned musicians such as Prof. Frans Helmerson, Prof. Hartmut Rohde and Grace Bumbry.

She has performed throughout the USA, Asia and South America, including famous festivals, like the Bastad Chamber Music Festival, the Jeju International Festival and the IKIF Festival New York.

During her professional career, she has recorded for radio and television, including WDR Radio Cologne, the German NDR TV station and for the exclusive BBC Radio Series New Generation Artists. Since 2011 Wieczorek has been a member of the International Music Organization Rhapsody in School, which was founded by Lars Vogt.
