It is with the purpose of encouraging and stimulating the study of music amongst the young, creating a dynamic cultural interchange between violinists from all over the world and to celebrate in Argentina a musical contest of worldwide renown that we present the First International Violin Competition of Buenos Aires, organized by the Amijai Community and the YPF Foundation.

An ambitious proposition from both institutions, the Competition is honoured by a Jury made up of artists of different nationalities and international recognition, presided by Maestro Shlomo Mintz.

Starting now and until July 2010, we have an intense and gratifying work year ahead of us, with a succession of study, rounds, auditions and selection of candidates, leading up to the presentation of the awards.
Just like in other prominent cities in Europe, America and Asia, Buenos Aires has added this competition to its much varied cultural offer.

The AMIJAI Community and the YPF Foundation hope that this endeavour will give us the chance to know and enjoy new musical talents, that it will take root and gain prestige in the international calendar, that it will strengthen our country’s image around the world, and that it will contribute to the training and education of our young musicians.
